Fake it Till you Make it
What we think influences what we do but what we do influences what we think. We are designed to become in reality however we act. We fake it until it becomes real. Our core personality doesn’t change, but we quickly adopt the mannerisms and skills associated with our new status and position.
Here are examples:
- Bad day - If you’re having a garbage day, you should find some reason to smile. It actually does make you happier.
- Test taking - Expecting to know correct answers can improve your test-taking abilities.
- Happy music - Listen to happy music and consciously try to become happier. It can actually lift your mood.
- Skill set - Imitate someone around you who has skills that you want or need.
- Shyness - If you act "as if" you are a certain way, you'll come to feel that way. Conquer shyness or be more outgoing by being a huge phony.
