Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake

Be careful out there, that sunshine grows them big!!!! THIS IS WHAT YOU MAY FIND IN THE AREA BEHIND THE ST. AUGUSTINE OUTLETS THAT ARE ON THE EAST SIDE OF I-95. NO JOKE! Found on a golf course in Florida . This is why you shouldn't go looking for the golf balls hit 'Out of Bounds' in Florida !!! THIS IS NOT A PYTHON! This is a 15 foot Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake - the largest ever caught on record. This snake was found Near the St. Augustine outlet, in a new KB homes subdivision just south of Jacksonville FL. A little research revealed the following: One bite from a snake of this size would contain enough venom to kill over 40 full grown men. The head of this snake alone is larger than the hand of a normal sized man. A bite from those fangs would be comparable to being stabbed by two curved, 1/4 inch diameter screwdrivers. For the squeamish, the photos of the surgical repairs below the text are pretty gruesome, but worth viewing . The camp director had previously called the hospital and a helicopter was waiting at the trail head. During the 30 minute helicopter ride I was going in and out of consciousness, having trouble keeping my eyes open.  We arrived at the Modesto hospital, where the doctor in the emergency room decided that my case was too severe to treat at that medical center. He told me this, which was the last thing I heard before going unconscious.  Although I was unconscious for approximately the next 24 hours, I have heard about the following events from my parents.  I was taken from the Modesto hospital to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento , the trauma center for Northern California. Snake meets electric fence

Apparently a farmer somewhere built an electric fence to keep livestock in or out.  This big fella apparently tried to go under it with a full belly and when he felt the shock, he turned and bit whatever was getting to him.  Needless to say, his days of stealing small livestock are over.
