Ohio University and drinking alcohol

Ohio University and drinking alcohol Ohio University is nestled in the rolling hills of Appalachian Ohio in Athens. This scenic town is a mere 90-minute drive southeast from Columbus. With an approximate student population of 23,000, Athens, Ohio, is the quintessential college town. Ohio University is well known as the nation’s top Party School. However, the school is trying to end this reputation and has implemented very strict drinking policies. Before we get to that, here are some reasons why they have the reputation. Court Street The red bricks on this historic street are famous. The street is only about a half mile but there are bars up and down. Court Street is well known for drink specials and drunken naughtiness. However, this street is also notorious for undercover cops that lurk in the shadows and into the bars so be careful. Bong Hill - named for all the potheads who make the climb. Green Beer Day - Yay! The beer is green! Win Or Los...

How Old Is Grandpa?

How Old Is Grandpa? Stay with this -- the answer is at the end.  It may blow you away.  One evening a grandson was talking to his grandfather about current events.  The grandson asked his grandfather what he thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.  The Grandfather replied, "Well, let me think a minute, I was born before :  television  penicillin  polio shots  frozen foods  Xerox  contact lenses  Frisbees the pill There were also no : credit cards  laser beams ball-point pens Man had not yet invented : pantyhose  air conditioners  dishwashers  clothes dryers  Oh, and ... the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and space travel was only in Flash Gordon books. Your Grandmother and I got married first,... and then lived together..  Every family had a father and a mother. Until I was 25, I called every w...

Assassination vs. murder

How important do you have to be to have been "assassinated" instead of "murdered"? If the motivation is political, then it's assassination. Otherwise, it is murder. You cannot be assassinated by accident, either. If a jilted ex murders the Prince of Placeland, it's just a murder. If a jilted ex is also a member of a rival political faction, it may be an assassination. If a jilted ex is driving home in tears and accidentally runs over the Prince of Placeland in the middle of the night in a neighborhood where the streetlights are out because of the prince's questionable infrastructure policy, it's manslaughter.

Life in 2016

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2016 when... 1. You accidentally enter your PIN on the microwave. 2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years. 3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three. 4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you. 5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses. 6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries. 7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen. 8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't even have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it. 10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee. 11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : ) 12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing. 13. Ev...

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona is at it again

SHERIFF   JOE IS AT IT AGAIN ! You may   remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona, who painted the jail cells pink and made the inmates wear pink prison garb. Well......... SHERIFF   JOE IS AT IT AGAIN !     Oh, there's MUCH   more to know about Sheriff Joe !     Maricopa County was spending approx. $18   million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay.     The animal shelters are now all   staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts  in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of ...

Letter sent to a bank by a 96 year old woman.

The letter, shown below, is an actual letter that was sent to a bank by a 96 year old woman. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the New York Times.  Dear Sir: I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavored to pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honor it. I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire salary, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for only eight years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for debiting my account $30 by way of penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank. My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways. I noticed that whereas I personally attend to your telephone calls...

Creative Calendar from a Retirement Home

A Creative Calendar from a Retirement Home What a fantastic idea.  I bet they had a ball.   A German Retirement Community did a calendar where seniors amazingly recreated famous movie scenes. The Contilia Retirement Group in Essen,  Germany made what is probably the best calendar ever with a few of their seniors. According  to German press, 5,000 calendars  were printed.  And they were given out to residents of the senior center,  along with relatives and staff. The calendar models were interviewed about the project. They said it was a ton of fun to dress up as their favorite actors. The shoot was done with professional stylists.   The photographers tried to make sure everything  look as cool as possible. ...
